Uniform Guideline Revisions, effective May 2007

 Enclosed are the following changes that have been made to the uniform dress code beginning in the 2007-08 school year.

For your convenience the Viking Store will be selling a majority of our uniform apparel.  The plaid jumper, split skirt, and pleated skirt are available at Schoolbelles.  

Deletions:  There will be a two year grace period to phase these out.

1.      The V neck plaid jumper for grades K-3.  The shift jumper will be the only jumper used for K-3.

2.      The boys Hunter Green V- Neck vest.

Additions:

1.      New SMS crest apparel will be available in: long and short sleeve green or white polos, a hunter green crewneck sweatshirt (K-6), and a grey hoodie (7-8). Presently the crest apparel is optional. 

2.      The Viking Store will also carry plain white and hunter green polos, both long and short sleeve.

3.      The approved gym uniform will be available exclusively in The Viking Store.  Changes include a grey t-shirt and 7” and 9” inseam shorts.  Uniforms are required for grades 4-8.

Modifications:

1.      The uniform jumper, split skirt and pleated skirt must be no shorter than 2 inches above the top of the knee.

2.      Absolutely no flannel pants are to be worn under the uniform during school hours or at mass.

REMINDERS:

1.      All khaki or navy blue pants or shorts (boys or girls) may be purchased at a retail store, but must carry the label of an official uniform brand. (Ex: French Toast, A+ Apparel)  These brands may be found at stores such as Sears, Kohl’s, and Wal-Mart to name a few.

2.      ABSOLUTELY NO PANTS WITH STORE NAMES SUCH AS ABERCROMBIE, AEROPOSTALE, & HOLLISTER, ETC. WILL BE ACCEPETABLE.  FAILURE TO ABIDE BY THIS WILL RESULT IN HAVING TO PURCHASE NEW UNIFORM CLOTHING.

3.      K-3 Girls are to wear shorts under their uniform if not wearing pants or uniform shorts on gym day.

4.      Boy’s and Girl’s shoes must be dress shoes, oxfords or loafers.  No tennis, athletic, clogs, sandals or duck shoes are permitted.  ABSOLUTELY NO SKETCHERS OR DIESEL SHOES ARE PERMITTED. FAILURE TO ABIDE BY THIS WILL RESULT IN HAVING TO PURCHASE NEW SHOES.

5.      The grey SMS hoodie sweatshirt and approved athletic hoodies may be worn ONLY by the Junior High students as part of the uniform.  K-6 may wear only the green crew neck SMS sweatshirt as part of their uniform.
