Notes from Our Principal

May 2008

Ahhh Spring!  And how beautiful it is this year!  April has brought us so many blessings!  The Holy Father coming to America to pray with and for us, our bishop's visit for Confirmation, the celebration of First Communion, our celebration of Grandparent's Day, to name just a few.

OCSAA progress update

As you remember, we received full accreditation for our school last year and our five- year plan was approved.  Our Catholicity goal is "that students will learn and identify the Seven Tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and extend them through the Spiritual and corporal Works of Mercy."  The strategies for first year include teacher in-service, which was held last August, and pre-testing students on Social Justice that was completed this year.

Our academic goal is "that the students will become more proficient in mathematics through the use of critical thinking and problem solving skills."  Our strategy for this first year is to examine Iowa results to determine areas for improvement in math in critical thinking and problem solving skills.  That will be completed this year.

Jarod's Law update

Our inspection for the building and grounds will be May 14th.  Our custodians, aides and faculty are all involved and working together to ensure that all environmental health and safety standards as outlined in the Ohio Administrative Code are met.

Viking Store

We have been advised that we need to charge sales tax for  items sold in the Viking Store.  Our school is tax exempt for what we buy, not for what we sell.

And finally...

Next month, I will include as much news about next year as I will have.  There ware still six weeks of school to go, so as the weather gets warmer please help us keep the children focused.  Keep in your prayers all the intention of our St. Michael family.
